I use to be a member of this forum, when I had a Stilo 5 door 1.6 dynamic and my wife had a 1.3 Punto Dynamic. Both great cars and both really served us well. Have since forgotton user name etc so had to re register today.

I need to get my wife a car. She does loads of motoway miles so a Stilo 1.9 JTD 3 door seems ideal. Saw one yesterday and while ticking nearly all the boxes there were 3 things that put me off and wondered if there is any advive you guys can give to either make me return and make an offer or make be look elsewhere.

1. Panoramic sunroof. Completely dead. The roof is closed, the curtain is open. Trying the knobs and dials nothing at all happens, no noises, nothing. Is it likely to be motors or perhaps a fuse. Is the lack of any noise whatsoever telling me anything other than it isn't working?

2. While running the engine there is a sound coming from the left of the engine if looking into the engine bay, a bit like a slipping fan belf but more metalic. Reving the engine doesn't make it go away, just speeds it up. What's down there, water pump, alternator, any ideas what the noise could be and if so could it be anything serious. Pretty sure it is NOT in the engine at all.

3. Loads of sealant around the bulb holder that lights the rear number plate. Could it be that the previous owner couldn't be bothered to get the right screw or is there a known issue perhaps with water and leaks in the rear door? Difficult one to respond to this, I appreciate that, but if there are known issues, would be grateful for advice.

So.......I think I will be back on this board and a fiat owner again pretty soon, but whether it will be with this particular car remains to be seen. Would really appreciate any responses that people can give me to help me make up my mind.

Panoramic roof could be absolutely anything if it's not moving, from simple fuse to completely seized. Could try it with the manual handle

Noise from lh side of engine could be so many things but might be crank pulley which some have had repaired free of charge from Fiat

Rear number plate lamp holder mount corrodes away so I suspect that's what's happened to it
