Hi peeps, I have a '05 1.4 Stilo 3 door Active A/C that has what started as an intermittent fault that has become permanent and wonder if anyone has the answer. I have spent hours trawling through previous threads but no joy. The switches on the driver's door do not work either front windows or mirrors though I can lean over and open the passenger door with the switch on that door. Also, the central locking does not work on the driver's door. I have checked fuses 47 and 48 which are okay. The wires from the A-pillar into the driver's door seem fine so has anyone got an answer to my woes please?

Thanks for the quick reply. By "Fine" I mean that I have checked the connector in the drivers door and cleaned the connects and examined the wiring for signs of breakage but the wires appear all in order.

If all three problems started at the same time, I'd suggest you need to do some continuity checks through the connector but usually cleaning them with electrical contact cleaner cures it.

The A post connector is the common point for windows, mirrors and central locking. If it was only the windows and mirrors, then I would suspect the switch connector, which is the common point for both

As above ^

however, the loom from A pillar to door is subject to a lot of stress (by opening and closing the door) and if ANY water gets inside the wiring insulator, the wiring can corrode and break. I wouldnt be surprised if there was some break in the wiring.

Thanks guys. How reliable is the control unit(referred to as a node in other threads) inside the drivers door and if that was defective would it cause all the electrics in the door to fail as described? If it is that how much are they to replace? When I checked the wires in the door I checked the connections to the node and all were secure.

The door control unit controls all three systems but I've never heard of one malfunctioning. More likely to be the connectors or wiring. Have you got a good power supply and earth to the control unit. Power supply comes from fuse F32 in the dashboard fusebox.

A new driver's door control unit from Fiat is about £150 (GBP) but there's always several on eBay from broken cars. There are several different versions of them.

From pm

As you've lost power to windows, locks AND can lines in the door then either the door node is dead, or, more likely, power or earth to the node has been lost

So I'd check for 12v on door node connector D pin 8 for power in and check earth at the same connector D pin 7. These all go through the door A frame connector D30.

Thanks guys, I will recheck the wiring tomorrow and try and find my multi meter for the connector pins. Iam very appreciative of your help.
