I have a '03 1.8 sport (bought it last week) with the 2 zone climate control.
And the aircon is not really working like I want it to.

First of all I can't turn the compressor off - if I press the button - nothing happens... This is just strange, I should be able to turn off the compressor even if it's on FULL AUTO, right?
Then I hear some mechanical noise from the dash, like it's trying to set the flaps or something like that.
If I'd like to set the AQS/recirculation off that doesn't really work - it stays on.
The air distribution buttons don't always lit up either, and there is no air coming from the middle - or just very very little.

The fast defrosting thingy seems to work OK, but since I never saw how it really should work, I'm not sure.
(it turns off the AQS at least :) )

My first thought was that it needs a reset, so I disconnected the battery, left it for about half an hour, and it was all the same...

Could all this be caused by a clogged up pollen filter? (not likely imo, but who knows?) Or it's a broken flap somewhere in the aircon?
If it's a broken flap has anyone removed and fixed one?

Edit:
I have tried to enter the secret menu - kept holding down the button for over 10 secs and nothing happened.

A new pollen filter would never go amiss, that would be wise as you suggest. There could be a loose connection somewhere. Climate control has a little brain that tells it to alter heating/cooling and maintian that temperature, wheras aircon just cools and the temperature is adjusted by the driver on a 'guesstimate' basis. Some climate control systems automatically control where the flow of air is directed to ensure even temperature build up. I'm not sure where the computer is located on a Stilo, but there could be a dodgy dry joint on one of the connectors or the brain itself could be fried. Have you tried cleaning the CAN connector?

Thanks for the tip, will try to clean the connectors if the weather clears up.
