hiya guys, my stilo hads had the air vent just under the windscreen replaced twice now and both times the same has happened. the clips that hold on the vent had melted possibly due to the heat comming from it. this sholdn't happen. just wonedring if anyone had had the same problem or make people aware of it. go and have a look before your warranty runs out and they charge you for it,

Mate, I Had The Same Problem With The Wife's Old Stilo. I Took It In To The Garage And They Replaced It But Within Days The Same Thing Had Happened! Traded It In On Tuesday And It Was Still Not Fixed! I Will Have To Keep My Eyes On The New One.

I believe this to be a common misconception. If the problem was there before your warranty ran out, they have an obligation to sort it. You don't have to start paying for work the day your warranty runs out. Mind you, I'm sure certain dealers will go out of their way to tell you that "it's just happened" and so is not covered.
I intend chasing my dealer for a new set of tyres every year until thet fix it or I sell the car.
Thats how I can't understand this "milage" thing. I go to my dealers and he says "ah, but the milage" and I say look, you sold me a defective car with ZERO miles on, it's not my fault I've done 24K during the time it's taken you to look at the problem.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm ! - sifting through these threads and came across this one. Most interesting ! The vent in question was also "popping" out of my dash, push it back in and out it would spring. I did highlight this to the Fiat dealers on several occasions whilst the vehicle was in for other issues.

They could of just "glued" it back in place, job done.

BUT !!!! - nobody at Fiat bothered to think going down this route. So when I highlighted it once again, I was told that the vent was not a replacable part - it needs to be a complete new dashboard.

Low and behold I got a new dashboard fitted, under warranty.

Probably didn't want to glue it because of risk of fumes/smell possibly a non-odour sealent would work better but hey new dash :)

Problems before warranty runs out are normally undertaken assuming service book up to date, customer has made his/her car available for repair when/as required.

I had this fault on a car at work - poor design (n) .

The vent is available seperate from the dash but it doesn't clip in, it is plastic welded to the dash - meaning dash out and fit the new one. :bang:

Kingchris, Sidwell did the same on my mum's Stilo, and now its happened on mine too! Might try Alan Kerr in Paignton, the mechanic there is SO much better than Sidwell's lot!
