When I bought my second had Stilo a few months ago I only go the one key with it, and the garage said they would order me one in and let me know so I could pick it up.

I've been chasing them now, and today they informed me that they can't get the Code for the car, apparently both Fiat UK and Fiat Ireland (it was imported from Ireland) are looking but both are unable to find it.

Is there anyway of getting a new key without the code?

If Fiat are unable to get the code for the car, what other problems may this cause?

If there are problems what are my options on this, can I reject the car?

The code card [electronic and mechanical] costs about £2 or so from your local FIAT parts department. It is worth getting......

HOWEVER, will this allow you to get a key cut????

The problem is they can't get this card, also Fiat UK and Ireland are unable to get the card (my car dosn't seem to exisit) :bang:

I will be checking, but I will say that the garage have been very good and very honest, so am inclined to belive them, so I'm checking my options.

Try contacting ISR direct, because they hold all the data AFAIK.

The dealer simply obtains the data from them.

There phone numbers normally on the car windowstickers along with the security etching saying something like: "if you buy this car new or second hand and haven't received the paperwork..call this number"

If you havent got the sticker on yours I'll get the number of my car when I get home (haven't got the Stilo at work today)

I thought ISR was all to do with the marking of all windows, to deter thieves taking it because all the numbers etched on the screen are linked to a secure database?!

Do they also hold your key number?

I'm in a similar position with my Abarth - Fiat UK have no record of the car - I purchased it secondhand from a Non-Fiat car dealer came to transfer the warranty, contacted Fiat UK to do this, to find they have record of the car and they suggested it may be an import. The strange thing being the log book indicates the 1 previous owner as ....guess who ?????? Fiat UK, Bath Road, Slough.

ISR hold all the security data for your car. If you go to a fiat dealer to get this data they ask for id + logbook etc then contact ISR who provide them with the info.

ISR won't give out data to owners directly, but they will be able to confirm what data they hold on record for the vehicle. They were pretty helpful when I called them - I needed a key cut for the wifes Ulysse and had to get the PIN code for the imobiliser before the dealer could program a new key in.
