ESP / Traction Control

Hello!
Just a quick question,
Does any of you non Abarth Stilo owners have ESP/Traction control?

I have seen on a picture ages ago an actual button to turn off the ESP/Traction Control. The Button was positioned by the CITY button on the Gearbox bit.

The button read "TSC" in the middle of "CITY" and "MSR" button.

I do not have this button an yet I do have ESP (well I paid for it anyway!)
All i have is "CITY" and "MSR" and a blank switch.
Any of you know anything about this?

I have a 1.9JTD as below.

Thanks.
Regards, Jetweed

Re: ESP / Traction Control

From what I recall of the car I am about to pick up at 5.30pm, the blank switch you have is the Auto button, for the Selespeed models.

No idea yet about the ESP!

Re: ESP / Traction Control

ESP cannot be turned off and has no button....it only comes in when needed.
Traction control can be turned off and is the button next to city button.
Hope this helps.

Re: ESP / Traction Control

ESP - Electronic Stability Program
ASR - Antislip Regulation
MSR - Engine Drive Adjustment

Re: ESP / Traction Control

I suppose so!!

The ESP system is an electronic system controlling the car stability. Intervenening on the torque and braking the wheels in a differentiated way, in the event of grip loss, contributes to return the car in the right course.

When the sensors detect the conditions that could cause the car slipping, the ESP system intervenes on the engine and brakes generating stabilizing torque.

just typed that straight outta the manual. how boring is my job???

Cheers

Re: ESP / Traction Control

I thought Traction Control was to do with front wheels gripping - if you were on loose stones, say, or in the wet, and booted it from standstill, TC would cut in and reduce the wheel spin.

On the Ulysse it works depending on whether there is one or two front wheels losing grip!

Re: ESP / Traction Control

Looking at this again, Traction Control is controlled by the ASR button, so you can turn it on and off.

MSR is do with decceleration of the vehicle, and wheel grip as you change down.

ESP is for overall stability of the car, if and when you take it too fast into corners, say.

Thumbs down Re: ESP / Traction Control

No, having ASR does not mean you have ESP.

ESP is standard on Abarth models and 'was' standard on 1.8 models until just recently. Now ESP is an option on all models apart from Abarth.
