Firstly Hello to you all, Im new here and own a Fiat Stilo 3dr JTD. A great site!!

Does anyone have any diagrams or step by step instructions on removing the whole dashboard from my Stilo?

The story why, I COULD CRY :bang: I have been installing a dash touchscreen, car pc and so on but had mega problems try to get a amp wire from the battery into the car and had tried all the suggested places. I decided to drill a hole from the bulkhead just under the wiper cover passenger side, which was ok and went into the black foam stuff behind but after looking more closely I have gone though a loom and destroyed about 5 wires or so. :cry:Yes I know, please dont, yes idiot!! I could try to remove of the black foam from the inside instead but I would still would make repair these wire difficult due to the location.

As for repairing this, Im fine with doing this but its just getting to it that I dread! I feel a mega long weekend ahead and a pee off wife too!

Any help, advice appreciated!!

Cheers
Neil

Hi,

I presume no one has had to remove a complete dash but then again probably not as stupid as me to drill a hole through a wiring loom! Anyway all sorted now just about, got the CD manual which was some help and striped it down today. Just about got to the wires to repair these and rebuild tomorrow hopefully. All being well it all works.

Once the dash is back I will continue with the carputer which is a HP e-pc with a 8" touchscreen which should be cool when done.

Cheers

Moderator Rich rroope has taken out the dash on his 1.8 but we havnt seen him here for some time now..

Hi and thanks for the replies. Yes I drilled to the back of the top glove box and just to the left looking from the front. Luckily and I mean lucky the damage to the wires was just left (1") of the metal dash frame which forms the underneath dash. An inch to the right then I would of been :bang: and then :cry:as this would of been another momouth job! I had drilled through 3 wires and scrapped 5 others, so now repaired and insullated. I had to put most of the dash back before reconnecting the battery and starting which I did this morning, no smoke, no faults :D so touch wood/plastic I think were all ok.

I hope no one ever has to do this but I was a pratt for not checking more carefully. Anyway any advice on dash stilo dash removals then Im your man.

Here is a couple of pics of my handy work.

Thanks people

Cheers
Neil
