What we need is a sat nav forum for example poi (points of intrest files) we can download on to our sat navs eg fiat dealers, speed cameras and low bridges for those of us who tow tin tents (caravans) i am currently working on a dealer poi for tom tom sat nav units and hope to have it ready soon in the meantime if any member wants help with sat nav issues really experienced on tom tom systems i have a small knowledge of others please pm me and i will try to help

i'm still confused why we have a computing section. whats next? a vauxhall section!? maybe a section for fashion tips? how about a hardcore porn section? it seems many users think of fiatforum as the place to ask about anything. ask google instead, you get better answers. leave fiatforum for fiats, thats the whole point isnt it
So you want the Leisure Lounge removed then?

The two new sections are just off-shoots of that, due to the level of threads that kept coming up. No-one is forcing you to look in any section, apart from those that interest you :p

with regards to jugs post he makes a valid point but i am quite aware that there are other sat nav forums indeed with people more qualified than i could ever dream of becoming however how do people get to know of them? thats where this section would come in people who have used these sites like myself can listen to others satnav probs and know exactly where to refer them having used these sites myself i know the pro,s and cons and can advise folks accordingly at the end of the day my philosiphy is whats the point of having knowledge unless you share it?

i wonder if the download section (if implimented)should be for donatees and/or for members of a certain post count/membership time.
prevents people joining just to grab files and never be seen again

Dont think it should be for length of time, you could exclude zero posters etc, but putting a post target means more spam, and useless info.

I personally dont think we'd need downloads etc, unless it was for fiat only related stuff!

I remember looking into the subscription for pocketgpsworld and it was quite cheap as you could sign up a web site. You could limit this to those who have donnated.

there is already a forum specifically for this, with far more capable people offering advice than we could ever dream of: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums

there are so many other sites dedicated solely to downloading and using POI's and other sat nav add ons and updates, and torrent and P2P networks are also stuffed full of sat nav files to download (inlcuding cracked sat nav software like tomtom). plus ebay is full of it as well (people download stuff then sell it so lazy people dont need to download it). why do we need to offer what is already widely available elsewhere? how can you expect to charge for something that is already free elsewhere? most importantly, how is it relevant to fiat?

I guess that it could be a sub cat of the Leisure Lounge. And would be quite usefull as more and more people are using them. There are so many different websites, i agree that are better suited, but sometimes it helps to keep it in the family, and gives people somewhere to get a quick answer or pointed in the right direction.

After all i sometimes point people in the Brava/o section to fiatboo, but does that mean they shouldnt have posted here, no, as the knowledge can then be shared. :D

i like that idea chris . but in the meantime for you porn loving sat navers there are poi files available covering red light districts and massage parlours and you can always change your splash screen to a topless babe and as for jane on tomtom guiding you forget that why have her when you can have either of the voices of sexy selina or naughty natalie guiding you. anyway happynew year to you all and safe driving

ATTENTION! ALL TOMTOM GO 510 710 AND 910 OWNERS!

do you suffer from mount problems ie unit when attached to windscreen keeps drooping? well you are not alone tomtom have recieved numerous complaints about this badly designed mount and are willing to issue a new modified one for free to all owners of the above units just go to www.tomtom.com/newdock/
and claim yours today

Woot, we've been needing this section for a while now.

after selling/fixing and upgrading these all day at work, i get the feeling i'm going to be spending alot of my time in this section.

Has anyone any knowledge on the Route 66 Chicago 6000 which is now £179 inc vat. Was £379.00!! Include free speed camera and euro maps. Sold by Halfrauds.

Andy.:)

in regard to this AVOID LIKE THE PLAQUE!!!!
although the GUI isn't that bad, the navigation software behind it is terrible.
it crashes if yuo ask it to do too much and the volume is also terrible (mentioned above)

i hope i didn't get to you too late... :(

unfortunatly the massive savings... are not really savings at all, just the standard halfords "keep it high for a month then drop it" policy we sold a grand total of zero when it was at £380purly because it was never worth that...

if you want somthing that kind of price range, get a tomtom one... or even a 510 if you can find it cheaper...

also just so you know, for some reason halfords have put the price of the TomTom one GB back up to £199.99 so it is now the same price as the europe... another halfords policy that makes people buy the higher end unit.
Crazy...

Good Choice.

I dont know if anyone knew already but;

A.) Tom Tom TMC Traffic Reciever should be in shops now priced around £70
b.) hopefully by the end of the month TomTom should release their FM Transmitter priced at around £30-£40, this will mean you can use your tomtom bluetooth as a true handsfree kit, that goes in to the speakers of your car.:yum:

A. Nearly got a TT510 incl. TMC & carry case @ 255 from PC World, reserved online for store collection. Main Roads Europe only though!

B. Bought a TTOne Europe @ 199.00, as did my dad. Argos do TTOne GB @ 159.00 & TTOne Eur @ 199.00 all day long... PCWorld price matched for me and Curry's for me dad & Halfords lost a sale or two :p Will transmitter work with One Europe, as my LGU880 wont play the game via bluetooth for the Traffic bolt on.

We used to sell them at that price... i couldn't believe it when i walked in to work and was presented with labels to take the prices back up to 199 for the GB and 249 for the europe... bare in mind we price match... (y) DAMN IT I'M NOT AT WORK ANYMORE WHY DO I KEEP ADVERTISING FOR THEM!!

Going back to the original point of this thread - a sat nav section!

Sorry I'm a bit late but I'd be willing to offer advice on them as I've been on the training courses for TomTom, Garmin, and Navman plus had basic training in all the others including PDA Navigation but not Phone Navigation (could do some reading up I suppose)... I've been sent on these as part of one of my jobs at Halfords... yes I know what you're all going to say but the courses are independant :)

Cool well that would be really usefull, as i'm sure working with lots of them you can point out pros and cons and tech details of the software etc.(y)

I'm certainly no 'know it all' but I sure can help :)

Also Navman troubleshooting may as well be a work passtime of mine now as I seem to spend more time on the phone to them than I do serving customers or fitting stereos :p
