Please can any one help the engine management light comes on when the ambient temp drops below 5 degrees cent .Car runs /starts drives ok no abnormal noises. all appears normal
Any help would be good Thank you

David - is it this one - https://www.fiatforum.com/sedici/253365-seidici-dashboard-warning-light.html If so our Emission Control System light has been on for about a year now and 15k. Absolutely no issues with driving/MPG/performance etc. Its been tested and is probably just a duff Lambda sensor sensor for the dash light. Our runs perfectly - I did try to remove the Lambda to attempt to clean but they get stuck on fast. TBH we just ignore it now!

The light only comes on when the the ambient temp outside drops below 5deg C It is not on all the time only when the conditions are as described .Fault codes have been read and nothing showed on the memory .This test was not carried out at a Fiat garage.I know the light can indicate various malfunctions.

It's not an 'Emissions Control System' light it's a generic Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). Doesn't come on only for emissions based issues.

From the Manual:

MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT

Your vehicle has a computer-controlled
emission control system. A malfunction indicator
light is provided on the instrument
cluster to indicate when it is necessary to
have the emission control system serviced.
The malfunction indicator light comes on
when the ignition switch is turned to
“ON” or “START” and goes out when the
engine is started.

If the malfunction indicator light comes on
when the engine is running, there is a
problem with the emission control system.
Bring the vehicle to your Fiat Dealership
to have the problem corrected.
IMPORTANT Continuing to drive the vehicle
when the malfunction indicator light
is on can cause permanent damage to the
vehicle’s emission control system, and can
affect fuel economy and driveability.

Hmmmm. I've just looked at the manual, seems like the car has a basic system, from the Suzuki / Toyota side of things. Looks like with the Sedici it may be only for the emissions system, but generally with most cars it's not only from emission system faults.

Re: Malfunction Indicator (was Engine Management) Light

Hi Folks

My Sedici ( 06 1.9 Multijet 63,000 miles) has its MI Light on for the last week. No power loss or other worrying symptoms.

Took it to my local very able garage, who thought was probably due to blocked DPF. I work 14 miles out of town, but in the last few weeks have done a lot of stop start driving . They reckoned a flush through and drive at high revs on dual carriageway would sort it.

Had a day when seemed to have a flat spot after 2,000 revs, when despite foot flat on floor no increase in revs and no power.

Then symptoms stopped and its now running fine ... But the *** light is still on!

Reading the helpful posts seems this could be due to
- blocked DPF
- lambda needing replaced
- nothing, so just ignore it ... Or
- fuel cap needing screwed in tighter!

Have done the latter, but think the first two are both a tad worrying and expensive ... So welcome comments

Do I need to investigate more ... Or ignore?

Comments welcomed!

Thanks MostEasterly!

The Garage is good. Fault code was P2002 'Particulate Trap Inefficiency'
They say its a common issue with diesel if
- frequent stop start journeys
- driving which keeps revs down, ie changing up early

Took car for a good run and kept revs over 2,500 and now seems to be running fine ... and light has gone off!

Their suggestion is to give her a blast at high revs once a week to unsoot the DPF.

Just an update to say that ours is still on after more than a year with absolutely no issues. MPG is as normal......... This is for the 1.6 Petrol though - the Suzuki unit.
I'll re-post this from the other thread to satisfy any other future Petrol owner issues that see this.............

Does a Sedici have a DPF regenerating light on the dashboard like a Multipla does ? It normally lights up when regenerating and cleaning the DPF.

Stop start driving and the odd blast will go against youi, you need to do at least two thrirds motorway driving against one third stop start driving for the DPF to self clean ( Regenerate ), if not it will get more and more clogged, its also worth a note to check your internal condition of your EGR, as this also soots up with a DPF, but the EGR is not self cleaning.
