Technical Resetting Engine Management Light

Good evening all, my EML came on recently due to a very blocked & dirty air filter which I think was on the car sincentre day one. I've replaced it now & cleaned the MAF sensor but the light on the dash stats on. Do I need a code reader to reset the light or is there another way to turn the light off. Car starts & goes lovely & returns over 52mpg ?
