I'm guessing by the fact that there isn't a Sedici section there aren't many of you but...

Are there any Sedici drivers out there?

My new Live Blue Sedici 1.9 MultiJet Eleganza arrived yesterday, so I'll be hitting the roads in it when I finish work tonight.

I've not driven one yet (only been with Fiat since October) but first impressions (granted, based on looks alone) are good.

What do people think of the Sedici? Am I going to love it, or have I made a horrible mistake?

Just joined the Sedici club myself a few days ago. Bought a 1.9 multi jet in commerical form ( beats a van) . Just going to raise a new thread regarding fitting a CD changer.

How long were you waiting for it? We've been waiting since September for one of these (same colour & trim). Currently using a loan car while Fiat gets it's act together.... Did you order ESP?

Just realised after typing this Scrogg that since you work for a Fiat outfit, your car is probably company issue?

Ordered on Friday 4th and arrived on Wednesday 9th (there were about 15 in the country at the time in various colours. I wanted black but there weren't any so went for my second choice).

Because it is a demonstrator I just ordered a standard car, so no ESP, but being a demonstrator doesn't make it arrive any quicker.

I can only assume the delay on yours is because of the ESP, but four months is outrageous

Have you spoken to Fiat Customer Services yet?

Yes, that's why we've had a free loan car since before Christmas. The fact that it's a new Bravo makes the situation a tad more bearable, but it is, as you say, outrageous. Would have cancelled before Xmas had they not supplied the Bravo. Sedici should show up in the next two weeks. Maybe. It will be nearer five months by then.....

Hey
i have just joined the forum minutes ago.
i have a sedici 1.6 petrol!! i got it in september, have done five thousand miles and am loving it!!
i had to have a new cat fitted after two thousand miles which is a bit worrying but other than that its a great little car. i bought it as an ex demonstrator with 300miles on the clock.
i just dont dont understand why they are not that popular. it works great in urban traffic and we've even managed some soft roading.
the next thing i.m looking to do is fit a CD changer but i cant even work out how to get the stereo out to connect to the back... the local suzuki garage are very helpful though.

Hello everyone,
Just joined the forum!
I'm picking up a 1.9 Eleganza on Saturday (Ex-demo) and I can't wait!
Had a good test drive and it is a great stable ride!
Hopefully it is as reliable as my mk2 1.2 elx Punto (60000 miles and only an aircon pipe breaking) and that has had a hard life thanks to me! :D

Cheers! (y)

I'm toying with chopping in my Panda 100HP for a soft roader (only toying, don't panic!). I'd only want a Sedici with ESP though, are they that rare? (I see someone earlier in this thread has trouble getting theirs).

Maybe I should just wait and see if the EU force all cars to have it fitted like they were rumours of recently. My Panda's only 10 months and 3,000 miles old after all (Maybe its the only Panda 100HP with side/windows airbags and ESP!!).

Isn't the Sedici the same as a Suzuki SX4 (or some name like that?). Who builds it, Fiat or Suzuki? Where? I'm impressed with my Panda's build quality (just don't like the harsh ride).

Sedicis in general are rare: how often have you seen one on the road? None of them come with ESP as standard, not even the top spec mjet eleganza. We ordered one in order to get ESP (it's the only "must have" on a very short options list). We've waited a long time, but I think thats down to some sort of cock-up (as evidenced by Fiat supplying a free loan car), rather than a general Sedici issue.

Yes, it is essentially the SX4, built by Suzuki in their Hungarian factory. The only Italian contribution is the Giugiario design and the multijet diesel engine. (The petrol cars even have Suzuki motors) All the Fiats have switchable Suzuki-engineered 4x4, whereas, bizarrely, most of the Suzuki versions are 2WD. The Fiats are better equipped, with higher list prices, but, IME (if we ever get the thing!) ultimately cheaper to buy because of the available discounts.

Finally got it! Looks like they are still using blue badges out in Hungary. They seem to sell so few I wonder how much longer they'll keep the sedici on the price lists... or perhaps they sell better in places other than UK? It seems a really nice piece of kit (in a no-nonsense Suzuki sort of way), and if you are into the urban 4x4 thing (I'm not, but this is my wife's car...) It also has the distinction of being listed by "What Car" as the greenest 4x4 on the UK market (thanks only to Fiat's bizarre decision to only sell the Panda 4x4 here with a petrol engine!). In the present climate, as "green" 4x4s, if they carried German badges, sedicis would be absolutely everywhere.........

Great news! :D

Blue badges look better!

It doesn't take up any production capacity for Fiat, so I would guess they'll keep it going for as long as Suzuki keep the SX4.

So true!

seen 2 sedicis on way home today:)
That's as many as I've seen ever! :p

Still loving my Sedici. All of my mates take the mickey out of it, but I just don't care! :D :D

I mentioned the blue badge on my Sedici to my FIAT Zone Manager today and he said that as no new Sedici have been built "for some time" there won't be any red badges until they have cleared the existing stocks.

He showed me a system FIAT dealerships have access to (until today I didn't know we could do this) that shows from the chassis number when a car was actually built. Mine has been sat in a compound since last September!

It might be worth you asking your dealership to show you the same information on yours...

...he also said a 2WD version is due shortly, so I guess it will be sticking around for some time yet! :D

That's interesting: wonder if it can possibly account for the extraordinary delay to which I was subject: perhaps they decided in the absence of new build to bolt on ESP to an already built car?

They've been telling me all along that it was built in the second week of November but it then "got lost in the system". Mysterious stuff...

Anyhow I agree that the blue badges look better.. especially on a live blue Sedici. And given that we also have a blue-badged 07 Panda, it's nice that they have they matching badges....

I've been wondering if the badges are put on in Hungary or when the car shows up at Portbury. The underbonnet area is interesting: there's the familiar Fiat 1.9 mjet engine, but it's devoid of any reference to Fiat. Unbranded, I suppose, so that all Suzuki and Fiat have to do is get the appropriate wheel and body badges plonked on after build. No "Fiat Autos Spa" plate anywhere to be seen. Or Suzuki plate come to that. It's the car from nowhere...
