I've not used these specific companies,
but have bought my rear boxes via ebay before,

they all tend to come from Germany/Poland, so beware of lengthy shipping if there is a supply problem,
good items though - never had a quality issue,

not sure how you would stand for warranty outside of 60 days though..??,
Charlie

The parts:

I bought the centre and back sections from: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/citroen_peugeot_renault/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

1) CIT3011 centre
2) CIT6013 rear

The (Northampton) seller was helpful. Next-day delivery.

The job:

As ever, the biggest time was set-up. Drove the van up on sturdy pallets on the offside, with thick wide boards on top to spread the load.

Exhaust sections retained by:

13mm bolts on the front->mid section U-bolt.
17mm bolts on the mid-rear section clamps (x2).
3x rubber push-off hangers, one mid section, 2 rear.

Straightforward undo of U-bolt/clamps. Mid-rear join was 2 clamps holding a piece of thin sheet steel wrapped around the joint! Should have been a flared joint!

To disconnect front pipe I used a small cold chisel tapped in to the "cuts" in the flared piece once the U-bolt was removed, then tapped backwards the sticky-out bits. Had the pipe not cracked and broken, I could have tapped the front of the middle box!

Reconnection straightforward - I re-used one rear clamp, as it was better than a U-bolt. The rear exhaust box is held by one rubber hanger on a fixed rod welded to the rear section, and one on a rod welded to a band going around the box section.

Procedure was to slide together the flared joints and then hang, doing everything up tight only when the pipe was hanging in the correct place with the two rear pipe ends level. The band on the back box just needs moving around until it's in the right place and then doing up.

So, quite an easy job. Luckily it did not rain!

The cost:

£100. Fastfit outlet: £200 - £220.

Good job Zog...!!! and well explained too. I've changed the rear box before but to do the whole thing seems a bit more daunting. This makes the process seem less scary now you've given us the procedure you used. Thanks.
