Having had my old 1994 55S for a year with only minor problems it decided to get its own back! It started with the radius arm knocking so I got an exchange replacement the fun started as soon as I fitted it. Dismantling wasn't too bad everything was tight & rusty but came undone eventually but who designed the drum brakes (Lockheed different to the ones in Haynes Manual!) They were a right b*****d to remove even unhitching the handbrake cable was a fight,Then of course the slave cylinders were starting to leak & the shocks & the brake flexis & metal pipes we not nice. I replaced them all but getting the LH rear shock top bolt undone proved difficult the horrible bolt with built in washer & tapered hex head soon rounded & access is difficult the exhaust gets in the way in the end I cut the exhaust pipe in front of the rear box & ended up welding an old socket to the bolt head & finally removed the bolt.
Reassembly was OK but slow, the brake shoes were a real sod to refit took ages! Whoever designed them should be roasting in hell by now if my wishes were granted!
I got it finished late Sunday night having started Saturday morning & was really pi**ed with the car.I took it for a test drive seemed OK slight rubbing noise from brake but not jamming. But I was pretty hacked off & slammed the door bad mistake! thats when I found out that the seatbelts have pretensioners Don't slam doors too hard! I now need a new belt!

Oh Well!
