I might ask why? my 1994 55S has such light steering it don't need power steering just something else to go wrong! Compared with my sons VW golf Driver now that needs power steering! very heavy especially at low speed.
I have to agree with KeithT on this one, my 1995 1.1 55sx is really light on steering, so light in fact i actually thought it had power steering when i bought it.
you not only need to replace the rack and fit a pump and pully,
you need to fit a new engine as the mk1 pas pump mounting holes are part of the engine block
I was actually thinking the other day that it'd be really good if I could take the power steering out of my car all together! I noticed how false and light it felt after driving a car with no power steering - it sort of feels like you have more control thro' corners.
You may be better off buying a Punto with PAS although I think only high spec and sporty versions came with it.
Thanks for your replies,
