Please someone help its starting to drive me mad. I own a punto 90elx cabrio and have been having problems ever since purchase.

The car was registered on the 21/03/1995 and was wondering if it has the fiat code key system. We only ever got one key, which clearly had no chip. The car had been stolen/ recovered and I wondered if they had bypassed this feature.

Secondly the car locks itself at will, with or without the keys in the ignition. Only ever locks though never unlocks.

And finally I disconnected the battery today (in the hope of curing the problem) and now the little joker won’t start at all.

Oh and just to cap it all off the car spills its oily guts at will (neeed to change the sump gasket)

Any help would be great.

code key i cant confirm .one for the punto guys.

when you say it wont start.is it turning over? what lights are there on the dash?eg an orange code light etc

locking of the doors sounds like a dodgy connection on the central locking wiring or a dodgy relay. i would mst likely lok at the door swtches 1st.

sump gaskets not a big job.

hello im sure the key code came in in 1995 sometime did you get a keycode card when got got the car with this you can over ride the key code to see if thats your problem if you dont just ring up your fiat dealer and inquire about buying the card for your car and with your car info they might say no that car dont have the key code (ok thx bye ) at least you know for sure then
