Problem with Indicator. It shows that the rear light and the amber light of the right side indicator flashes on and off together and this shows up on the dashboard as a rapid blinking. The front right amber light flashes rapidly. what happens in sequence is that the rear indicator light slowly blinks on and off and then as it goes off it the red tail light goes on and then off as it changes back to the amber Never the two lights goes on and off at the same time. It is as if one can flick a switch to flash the red light on and then off where then the amber light goes off and on It is I believe a common fault with Punto the Punto is an X 2001 1400 Petrol I'm only using this car for a short period of time due to the fact that the car is not mine but because the owner of the car is unable to drive I am taking her shopping. to be honest this car is a wreck even though everything works Brakes lights steering I prefer a Volvo 940 diesel estate anyway anybody have any idea's why this is a common fault on the Fiat Puto

Normally only common if people don't service the cars at the correct intervals and do basic checks. Like any car if they are neglected problems start.

It sounds to me like a bad earth to the rear light unit. Locate the earth cable to body fixing in the boot which operates the rear light and give it a damn good clean off then re attach.

I normally clean earths with a bit of sand paper and then plop some copper grease on before re-bolting to the bodywork.

Also if yours is a 2001 it would be a Mark 2 Punto rather than Mark 1.
