hi guys.

i have this annoiying problem. when im driving around 70 km/h my punto starts shaking.

it feels like its coming from the wheels. what could this be?

hope you can help...

Check front rear support arm bushes these kinda of go in most cars......if not check the rear bushes too........

Do you have aftermarket alloy wheels?

First sometimes the stick on weights have been known to cause vibrations still.

First I'd get the wheels rebalanced.
Then get your tracking done.

If not then have your track rod ends looked at, and last resort look at suspension.

If not it could be knackered alloys that have a slight buckle in them.

tbh look at the suspension first....if you get the 4 wheel alignment done and you find out it needs suspension work you'll end up out of pocket as it will have to be realigned after the suspension work.

Hi mate,

I've been down the same road, I brought sum aftermarket alloys for my mk1 punto from 13" to 15", Mine started shaking through the steering wheel and body at around 50mph+ It drove me nuts at the time I had a leaking drivers side suspension, so I had that replaced with no luck, I went the local garage to get them re-balanced even though they look like they had been done. He took the one wheel off and said wheres ye spigots and wobberly nuts? So had to get them because the wheel was jumping up and down at speed and was held on by 4 threads of the original nuts!. That helped a bit but approaching 60mph it was still there, So I had a free tracking test done and that came back as straight as a die! So after all that what was it? Av a guess? the front 2 wheels even doh they had weights on, they were way out sumit like 10/40 on 1 and 60/10 on the other. Anyway had them re-balanced hit the a500 the other day at 70mph and nothing no shaking :D

Hope that my help.
Dave

ok update,

My car is still shaking, All i have left is 1 wheel that hasnt been rebalanced although it does have weights on it, and 2 worn/reduced damping effect rear shockers? could it be that, everything was great on the steels, cud it be because ive gone from 13" to 15" or cud it be because the with the wheels being heavier its pulling on the already worn back suspention? help! lol
