hi, i want to buy a new car stereo for my 1999 Fiat Punto (old style). ive been told that to remove my factory-fitted stereo i will need prong tools, but i dont know where to get these from. if anyone has any idea about where to get these from i will be thankful. im looking at stereos at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and was wondering if they packaged these tools with a new stereo but im not sure.

thanks,
vik

i think these are fiat only things. was your car brand new when you bought it? if so you will have the prongs somewhere...if not, then the previous owner must have kept them.

they be shaped like a U

I'm sure I just prised mine out with a screwdriver.

I can't remember, it was 3 years ago, but I am certain that I just carefully prised it out.

Yeah like richie sed thay are 2 U Shaped prongs. My advice is go to your nearest FIAT dealer, even if they can't sell u any they will definately be able to take out the current stereo for you so that you can put your new one in.

Don't be silly you lot. Go down to Halfords and buy a set. All they are is a U shaped bit of coat hanger with pointy ends. The bend easily and fit in the 2 holes on either side of the facia. Push them in as far as you can then pull them sideways and outward at the same time.
If you can't get any or you don't live near a Halfords just email me at [email protected] and i'll send you a pair.

God, im just like a Moderator, but not:D

Hmmm, well that doesn't inspire me with confidence, if anyone who frequents Halfords, (why?), can pinch my stereo with ease. I know it's relatively easy anyway but that just makes it laughingly easy.

thanks, ive bought a pair from halfords and they work. all i need to do now is buy a new car stereo! if anyones got any advice on this that would be great. caraudiodirect.co.uk seems a lot cheaper than halfords, argos and the like. i don't want to spend too much, and i should be able to pick up a decent one for about £100 on that site considering that they're a lot cheaper than the high street. i sound like im advertising the bloody company! but they have got some decent systems though.
