Hello all

As some may have read I bought a 13 plate ex demonstrator Punto MultiAir 105 Lounge from a large main dealer a few weekends ago. The dealer are about 3 hours drive from me but I went there to get the spec I wanted and got a brilliant price I think.

It had only 9000 miles on it and is roughly 18 months old.

The folder containing all the manuals wasn't present and it completely slipped my mind. I got about half way home and phoned and said this. No problem it'll be in the post ASAP. I received them (without the wallet) this week. Well I've got the owners manual and service book. The owners manual is wrong and not for the 2012+ Punto. It therefore makes no reference to the MultiAir engines.

I've since found the wallet with manuals but with no owners manual in the space below the boot carpet with the emergency tyre repair kit but it doesn't look like its been moved since the car was made.

I was a little surprised to see no stamps. I expected a delivery inspection stamp (even if that means nothing) as I've had on previous cars and also as per the service schedule an oil and filter change at 1 year due to the car covering less than 10,000km per year. A note which is printed below the tabled schedule in the owners manual.

It was bought on the understanding that this is a nearly new car and a dealer car so maintained by the book as necessary. Due to the mileage it should have had an oil and filter change at 1 year but I have no record of this.

I've challenged this with the dealer and Fiat customer care so await a response.

It has taught me a lesson that dealers can't even maintain their own cars let alone customers cars!
 
Similar thing happened to me, they abuse there demonstrator vehicles IMO, a lot of younger sales guys showing off in them etc.

Agreed, fortunately I didn't go for orange sporty looking one and stuck with the standard look with 15" alloys and no bodykit etc so less appealing I hope to the younger sales guys.

In the end they said it had done something like 6,500 miles or something like that so an oil and filter change were unnecessary. It's funny how they round 10,000 km down to 6000 miles and not 6213 as it actually is.

I've since just had an oil and filter change yesterday whilst it was in with my local dealers just for peace of mind. Didn't cost much. That 18,000 mile / 2 year interval seems far too long and perhaps more of a selling tool than how they should be maintained.

I also had a oil & filter change for peace of mind.
Yet they want my car servicing every 12 months as I am a low mileage user?
Best to do what you think is best IMO.
