Hi,
I have had problems for a while with my punto mk2 1.2 ELX (2000) where sometimes it doesnt start and also when it does I can floor it in first and it will judder (not constant amount of fuel getting to the engine). Took it into the garage and lucky enough it did it there and then. They checked a few things but to get it started they actually punched the petrol pump underneath the car. They said I need a new one and want to charge me over £100 is this about right? Also if its blocked or something can i not try some of that fuel cleaner stuff you can get :S ?

Also they noticed a noise coming from back passanger side wheel, they said its possibly a brake spig, any ideas on what this is??

the pump is in the tank not under the car,

lol really shows how much i know about cars...the guy told me it was the petrol pump that needed replacing i just assumed that it wsa the box underneath the car that he had to hit for the car to start ???

could it have been he fuel filter they hit and that its blocked

I bought a fuel pump and filter for a my punto (1996) for £26. That's trade prices though and bare in mind our cars are different models so expect to pay a little more, but not much I'd imagine.

Problem is the retaining ring that secures the pump,it can be a b*tch to remove.

my fuel filter for my mk1 60sx (and i was quoted it works the same for the 2000 elx) was £14 trade price... lemme know how u get on bud

Is the fuel pump/sender all one unit on the MK2 ELX's?
