ok i was gonna change my head light bulbs today, easy job i thought silly me. on the passenger side the the dip beam light cover is partly blocked by the fusebox in the engine bay there is hardly any room to move am i going to have to take it out ?? take the light out ???? or am i missing something obvious??? anyone else had a prob like this and how you get round it??

also dam looks like my bulbs are h7 ( more expensive) yet poggy's were h1 any one know why ??? would of thought bulbs would be same on all mk2 puntos

Hi,

You can just get the cover off if you push and pull a bit, the fusebox does make it tight though. Best to try and lift it up and over the beam adjuster screw. Also take the main beam cover off to give you more room.

I was surprised I had H1 as the guy at powerbulb thought they should be different. The main beam are the same type, so I have 4 H1's fitted. The owners book does list 3 types depending on type.

Poggy

It can be done, but it's easier/quicker to loosen the fusebox, especially if want any skin left on your knuckles.

thanx for replies guys nad mr pastry you sound liek someone who learnt the hard way lol. my bulbs are in post soo should be changing then during week will try without moving fuse box but at slightest sign of skin loss that box is outta there lol.

oh and trust me to have h7 bulbs they cost extra. swear i am having bad luck. went for mot other day and bloody exhaust rear box fell off on way to mot station lol

  I tried to fit in replacement bulbs and thought it would be a doddle...boy was i wrong...the passenger driver side was totally a joke. i had to unscrew the whole fuse box and unscrew the whole right cluster to make space and replace the bulb..slottin the bulb in was very tricky due to lack of space....it was a hassle but it was worth it because i installed PIAA H1 and H3 7500k plasma bulbs. if u ever replace ur punto mk2 bulbs then go for PIAA plasma blub 7500k from ebay...u got a gorjus crystal blue white light better then BM's and Mercs....

found this out with mine last nite, crap design if u ask me, my right knuckle is in shreds... - and i still never got it done, defo going to slide whole light thing forwards 2nite and do it that way!!! :bang:

I couldnt for the life of me get into the damn bulb to change it first time it went on me, my knuckles were in bits. Asked a mate to do it for me and he had to take the whole headlight out to do it!!

Oh come on guys....if a dumb mechanic monkey with gorilla hands can do it surely you lot can

Remove the 2 top headlight bolts, slide foward literally a inch.....then become a ninja if you want & bend your hand in there, remove back cover, change bulb, refit flap, change back from ninja, refit bolts & smile :)

i managed to do this last nite, took me cowin ages, my thumbs was in bits, could i shift the thin metal lever bar thingy away from the clip????? could i 80770CKS!!! anyway cut a long story short, i managed to do it in the end. next time the bulbs go i am going to get Fiat or some garage to fit them!! (n) :yuck:
