I posted a topic eariler regarding my powerflow exhaust losing its sound and sounding like a standard exhaust, well when the car went in to have the engine flushed i asked the mechainic to look for signs of lholes in the exhaust system, and he said the flexi pipe had split so had to be replaced, im hoping this will solve the horrible whistling noise that happens all the time, but would this split have affected the sound of the echaut also? If not i will replace it with a supersprint backbox!

Cheers

I'm suprised that they didn't replace the flexi with a stainless steel flexi. The noise will be drastically affected as the exhaust gasses are taking the quickest and easiest route to atmosphere - out the flexi.

Shame it's not a turbo diesel - these sound amazing when you take the zorst off from flexi back!

I dont know if he is going to replace with stainless steelxi or 'standard' flexi, what are the benefits of the stainless steel one? Also where do i source them from and how much (roughly), as he said it is 'about' £90 for the standard flexi?

Cheers guys!

P.s. - If this does not solve the whistling type noise what else could it be?

Did it effect the exhaust nite, i,e did it make it less noticeable? Was your flexi pipe split? What sound did the split flexi pipe make - mine is a whistling sound! Has it improved the exhaust note? Sorry for all the questions!

Took my car in to have the flexi pipe replaced today, but the mechainic said there was a problem, that there are different variants of HGT with differing amounts of sensors, if mine has 1 oxygen sensor then the part os inly £90, but if it has 2 oxygen sensors, then the part is £290, so if i need the more expensive part then i was thinking of going for the supersprint manifold as this comes with a downpipe to connect to the CAT doesnt it? Has anyone experienced anyproblems with replacing the manifold? Is it simply a case of swapping old for new? My car is a 2000 W reg if that helps?

Cheers

Anthony
