Hi guys! It's good to be here - hoping that the forum is still active enough so that my issue can be resolved :slayer:

Randomly at cold starts, the RPM rises to about 1.2k, stays there, then lowers itself down to 8-900. So this is okay I guess, because of the cold start, and 8-900 RPM is good.

The problem starts where I put the lever in (D)rive. I can see that the RPM is going up and down, as if it wants to move the car but it's stuck - it isn't, it's on a flat surface in a parking garage. Finally it pulls real hard as if you've been hit on the back of the car, and off we go. I sense that something is dirty somewhere in the gearbox, and it causes it to get stuck? (R)everse does not do this, FYI.

Also when I get to a red light, the RPM lowers as I slow down (obviously) but as soon as I stop, it goes down to 550. Then it gets itself up to 600, then 570, 650, 800, 700 - so you can get an idea, it's going up and down from 500 until it gets to around 800.

I have made a video of this, not sure if that would help.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot! :)

Hey!

Yep, that's actually smart, I'll do that.
Can you tell me how I would be able to do that without a jack/lift? And where the throttle body is located? I know it's a stupid question :D

It idles well in (N)eutral as far as I remember.

Peter

Hi Peter.

Ive not had a CVT since a 1988 uno

They had lots of tiny hoses that caused bad running

I believe your punto uses electronics more.. so less hoses (y)

Lets rule out the normal engine stuff ..before worrying about the relatively rare gearbox ;)

I havent had a 188 punto for 10 years ..
so will rely on the forums great SEARCH for info and links :)
