Hi, My computer said passenger side airbag disable switch or circuit has a defect check for opens, shorts or weak connections.
I disconnected the battery for safety (wait half hour) pulled out the disable switch. Its on the end of the dashboard behind the passenger door.
The plug has a lug you press in disconnect. On the switch the two prongs the plug came off just need a little nudge to make a better contact with the plug, shove it back and switch off errors.

This is a common fault on Mk2 Puntos, It usually has nothing to do with the switch itself and everything to do with the badly designed wiring in the dash loom, that used a shared and noisy earth connection for the switch.

This was such a common problem Fiat Produced a wiring repair patch to give the switch its own earth separate from other systems in the car. back in 2011 when I published information about this online, including the part number for the wiring patch cable and a how to on how to apply the patch. The parts could be bought for about £8. These days not only are the parts almost impossible to come by but many of the mk2's are so old that people will scrap them rather than sort out an airbag fault.

I would strongly expect that your repair in this case will have little to do with fix you implimented and would suggest that it won't be long before the error comes back again.
What made the light go of was your resetting the warning light, until the next time the airbag ECU sees the same intermittant fault.

Realistically you would be advised to take the earth from the switch (purple and black wire normally) and connect this to its own ground directly. This will stop the fault for good.

In the mean time you may find that the fault comes back the next day, next month or even the next year, however unless the wiring loom is patched then you can expect that fault to return.

lt lasted a couple of miles when i switched it off before, then it got to the point were it wouldn't turn off. I'm hopeful that the bad earth was the switch as iv'e done a few miles since.
I watched your utube and was thinking of piggybacking wires to the original terminals.

Yes it eventually came back on, i did as you suggested and put an extra local earth to the passenger airbag key switch. The light hasn't come back on since.
