Hi, well I had same problem as many. The grommet in the wiper linkage has worn and then dropped off. I ordered a new set of WIPEX ones and fitted as instructed but very disappointed when following the instructions that the central new grommet immediately cracked on fitting. Has anyone else had this issue. Then I had a thought as these grommets are only held in with cir-clips. Does anyone know where I can get replacement grommets as I can refurb the old pair and then when the new pair wears out I can just switch.

Thirdly I was thinking, does this issue only effect right hand drive PUNTOs. Am I correct in my thinking that this motor and linkage is actually for left hand drive cars, which they have just flipped over to use on right hand cars meaning when the linkage wears, they fall off as if the linkage lay on the pin the other way up, it would never fall off.

I have attached pictures. By the way I paid £22 for the set of WIPEX linkages, I would think the grommets would be pennies to buy if someone knows from where.

Drill a hole through it and put a split pin with a washer right through it. Job done. I really wouldn't bother with a whole mechanism unless absolutely necessary in the mk2s considering how old they are

This is brand new, the bushes must be made in millions, surely someone just sells the bushes which you can just swap out rather than drilling wholes etc.

I got Wipex, they wore out, got more free, lifetime guarantee but I could see where it was going. Araldited on a pair of 1 c coins and that lasted longer than the Wipex. In the end I drilled a small lead hole in the flat end of the spindle and fixed on a washer with a self tapper. Not going anywhere.

Yeah exactly as I said. But the self tapper might undo it self hahaha. The split pin on mine has held for years.
