My odometer is flashing all other things alright just odometer anybody know why

This is an indication that not all the various computers and modules are talking to each other properly. Presumably yours is a 2b (big headlamps) so would be full CanBUS system.

That's got you, talking geek.

The car electrical systems are controlled by a body computer, which talks to various 'nodes' around the car, such as each door, lamps, tailgate, etc. Plus others. If something has been disturbed or changed, there appears to be an alien in the team, so the computer flashes the mileage to tell you.

It needs a 'proxy alignment'. This is basically telling the computer to accept all the currently connected nodes. Two ways to do this. Go to a main dealer. Ouch! Or use a wonderful piece of software called MultiECUscan (search for this, or MES, and read the various threads). Need the software, the licence, €50, and some connector cables.

Now, tell us where you are located. Quite a few people on here have MES, and if you're lucky, someone will be near and willing to do this for you.

I was under the impression from reading this forum that there is a 'node at the rear end of the car controlling the lights. On my car there is instead a large diameter bundle of wires going from the plugs on the body computer to the rear of the car that connect to each and every light and device at the back of the car.

I am supposing there is also no 'node' in the door locks - just a fat bundle of wires going thru the door boots to the body computer?

So I am assuming the 'savings in wiriing costs' applies to the connections between the body computer and the ECUS we commonly talk about here. ABS. Power steering, air bag and engine ECU.

Which is why I suppose that some forum members regard the body computer as some sort of unnecessary evil.

Second the proxy align.
Has the battery run flat recently or the car been jump started ?
It might be worth disconnecting the battery for a while and reconnecting.
