Hi all,

I just installed a aftermarket (android) radio in my fiat punto (mk1). Everything works, except that it doesn't turn on and off automatically. Also the radio display stays on what drains my car battery. I attached some pictures I made of the wiring. (There are 2 cables in the colored connector that are not connected because I don't know what it is for).

I hope you can help me.

Hi,
Welcome to Fiat Forum.
Most modern Fiats do not have an ignition switched supply to the radio. You systoms are consisten with not having a switched supply. The usual fix is to tap a feed from the cigarette lighter socket. A search of the forum should turn up more details.

I did that guide just like you did & now my battery is flat
Any help gratefully received

Hi, just for the record. I bought my mk2 punto with Sony aftermarket cd player and it works independently. The good thing is that I have long-press off button ti turn it off, or I can simply take of the front mask.

P.S. nice stereo btw. Was it expensive? Has it god rerview camera hardware?

Omg... that wiring is a mess!!
The earth return has about 5mm exposed copper and jo shielded....
The wires are not all the same colour / guage....

Also the yellowbluegreen connector thing is canbus related stuff, dont worry abput that - its for original hu's only

Also look on youtube - i did a video about tappin into a fused feed for the stereo from the fuse box
Rather easy todo

Also worth noting
Some fiats are canbus controlled - so becareful not to tap into those wires

Hi, I recently encountered similar problem with my 2005 mk2 punto and after reading the guides was about to get started when a friend suggested running a wire from the stereo and going directly to the relevant wire in the ignition instead. Works perfectly and took maybe 20 mins to do.
