Hi,

So my little 1.2 8V 2004 punto passed its mot with flying colours near the end of November. But this week has started to make a strange sound, it sound like and exhaust blowing but the times it makes this noise are strange. Which makes me think its not the exhaust but something else so just looking for some advice of where to start looking before I take it to a garage.

If the car is parked and the engine is revved the noise does not happen, it is only once the car is in motion. It happens in all the gears, and even while coasting. As you come off the gas or just hold the car at a set speed be it 30, 40 or 70 the noise seem to quieten down if not stop. It only seem to happen mainly when on power and accelerating.

The car it self doesn't seem down on power.

Has any one else had a similar problem or anyone with a bit more knowledge then me able to point me in the right direction.

Just to confirm: the noise only occurs when under load, not revved freely?

My initial thoughts are that it could still be the exhaust blowing
