dear fiat heads ,
i need to ask for the possibility for something on the engine tuning .
i have punto 188 1.2 8v engine and its getting more lean by time
i need to tune it with something but with a good mount of cash - as low as possible -.
i know that swapping a new better engine is easier but for more reasons i want to do the work on the same engine gov papers and lack of good parts around ext.
i was thinking of getting a dohc 16v out of the 1242 punto 188 sport and swap it to the 8v sohc as a first
secondly getting a multiair unit and swap it in to the modified engine if thats possible .
finally add a turbo unit to the work
i think at the end of the day i'm gaining more than 50 hp to the stock 60 or 55 idk to be like 110-120 hp and more torque of course
could it be done !
and ifso how to do it ?
any help would be appreciated it
best regards

If you fit a 16v engine I think u need to rhe whole 16v electrics
Which is just a ball ache

16v uses different front brakes and suspension all around to cope with the extra power

Just drop a cheap and cheerful 8v back in or find out why its running lean

Greetings,

Best bet, *skip the idea of the Multi air,
it wouid work out very expensive to transplant into punto,

best option, buy crashed..1.2 16v or 1.4 punto, and swap out the engine and gearbox, Remove dashboard and swap over looms, Bcu and ecu,

otherwise you wouid need something like mega squirt or standalone ecu
to run another engine,

what year is your punto?

i think a stand alone ecu with edit is a great choise
hope to find a good deal out of it
any suggestion are appreciate my good friend ?

It's never going to be "easy" when you want to do something like that. You won't find anything plug and play, or even close to it.
Swapping with something out of a Punto mk2 is the most realistic, but as already mentioned you will at least need the ecu and wiring loom as well.
And for what it's worth, steer clear of megasquirt ecu's - they're a load of poo.
