Multiecuscan/ABS query

Hi All

I have been having problems with the ABS on my 2004 Punto 1.2 16v dynamic. I have bought an ELM 327 interface and downloaded multiecuscan and got it working.

A scan of my car gives the following results:-

"Scanning ...

Engine
Bosch Motronic ME7.3H4 EOBD Injection
ISO Code: 7C 86 37 02 10

Electric Steering
Delphi Electric Steering
ISO Code: 31 83 08 01 92

Body
Body Computer Delphi/Marelli
ISO Code: 40 83 15 02 2F

Dashboard
Instrument Panel Marelli (Base)
ISO Code: 32 83 91 02 9D

COMPLETED"

When I try to connect to any of the above modules it says I need to get the registered version, which is fair enough, I suppose it was too good to be true seeing as it was free.

My question is, should I even get the registered version? According to the above results the program has not found an ABS module that it recognises so it would not give me any information on the ABS fault I have. Or would it show up on one of the other modules it has recognised?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

elm is only for basic engine diagnostics
to talk to abs it needs the pins in a different order this can be done by better machines and its called multiplexing ie it automatically moves the leads in the right area by electronic trickery
for the fiats its cheaper to use a converter cable that puts the pins and cables in the right order and for this reason these cables should only be used on fiats
they are available on ebay or amazon quite cheaply now or even cheaper is the kkl lead with fiat switch for less than £15 from china

for your abs problem you must have symptoms rather than trying to cure with a cable
why not post up reason for fault and go from there

Thanks, I will look up the leads you mentioned.

I had an ABS fault about 6 months ago and a garage replaced the front offside ABS sensor.

A couple of weeks ago I had the same sensations when driving ie pulsating pedal but no ABS light. The same garage said they couldn't see anything wrong, presumably because they had no DTC to go off.

Anyway I replaced the front nearside sensor myself and the braking has improved substantially, it did however kick in again this morning when I had to brake hard on the motorway. I don't believe the wheels were locking, or about to lock.

Since taking the car to the garage I have found I can get an ABS if I go really fast on the motorway (above the speed limit, not good) and only then. Also the light will go off once I turn the engine off.

I am going to have a look at the rear brakes tomorrow, I have read on here the rear ABS sensor/pickup ring might just need cleaning. I will give that a go first.

same size tyres all round?
cleaning wont do any good unless the senders are full of metal swarf which needs investigating:)
