Technical Brake fluid spraying out when I press brake pedal

Technical Brake fluid spraying out when I press brake pedal

Justa reflex thinking out loud with brain in neutral , maybe the lock is further than Fiat intended because of wear or damage and it pulls or pushes the hoses a bit.

hi
i told you to make sure you put the hose back correctly
you havent its not in a bracket as fiat designed
that brake hose as is is dangerous
look at your other wheel hopefully for guidance

I checked the other side, and it's literally IDENTICAL. What do you think is missing?

I also checked the positioning of the pipes at full lock, and there isn't any clashing in either direction. You've got me worried now.

they're both wrong then,
probably a lash up when you had both struts done.

And that's my thousandth post :)

Congratulations on your 1000th post. :D

I've only owned the car for a few months. Doubt I'll be owning it for much longer either.

Thanks. That was an interesting read. In reference to this picture that ziggy posted:

The bracket into which the rubber grommet goes on mine is vertical rather than horizontal. Now I'm even more confused. I really can't see where another bracket could go on mine.

hi Firthy the brackets that bolt onto the struts are handed this is probably confusing you
you do realise the reason your hose has gone is because the former keeper bodged this job or his garage did dont you?
see if you can buy the brackets off a scrapper or look on say ebay or if all else fails then a fiat dealer
its not safe to drive it as you have it at the moment
sorry:)

No, I didn't, but thanks. :(

I'll have to look into it a bit more, as I still can't work out where these extra brackets should be. It doesn't look like theres' enough play in the hose for it to be routed anywhere else, and it's definitely the right hose. If you have a few minutes, could you possibly point out in my photograph where the extra bracket should be?

Ah. So the bracket isn't "missing" from mine, but it's in the wrong orientation? i.e this one:

Apologies for the stupid questions.

Theyre the ones you don't ask:)

I'm just confused about the talk of a "missing" bracket. I think the bracket is there, but it's the wrong one. It should be horizontally position, but mine is vertical. I may be wrong though.

no the bracket bolts on to that bit

But the rubber grommet fits perfectly into the existing bracket! This is driving me mad. :bang:

I'll take a picture of the other side and see if that makes it any clearer.

Have a look at the second pic in post #7 in the thread I linked to earlier. See the nut and bolt holding the horizontal bit to the vertical bit.
Its possible that Fiat changed their mind about routing the hose or that hub is used in other vehicles with different set up.

Like I said, it's identical, and it's apparently been like that for a long time judging by the rust.

To clarify, this is the drivers side front brake pipe.
