Hi,
I've came across this error p1702, happened to me about a week after i replaced the plugs igniting wires due to error (p0303 - cylinder #3 ignition error)

I Tried looking up about this issue, but it seems every thread was not ended with a solution...

so ... HELP ?

Anyone ??? I've read on some other forum that had similar topic to that one that the problem might be in the D4 or gearbox connectors ?? where are they located ?? how do they look like ? can this be a battery issue ??

Only useful stuff I can find suggests an issue with the speed sensor. So, first step would be to detatch, clean and re-attach the connector to the speed sensor (above the differential).

Second step, report back with symptoms and a few more details of the car!

Do you have any picture or schematics of that connector and where it is ? I am not much of a mechanic but i am technical

The diff is more or less in the middle of the gearbox, at the rear. Speed sensor is just to the driver's side of that, assuming left hand drive. Connector is the only electrical; connector in that immediate error.

I've no data on that car at all.

a mk2 elx normally has abs? if so speed is sensored from there, unless its an auto then that had a gearbox sensor on the side of the box

Just went back to update this OLD issue,
so i just replaced the car battery and that's it the problem was gone....
