Hey guys, seem to be having a couple of issues with my 03 Punto Mk2

Firstly whilst driving around for about half a hour to a hour yesterday the trip computer reset itself.

Also secondly it seems if I drive around in traffic or just use the care normally the temp meter goes up to about half way as per normal, but when I get out of traffic and manage to get to decent speeds on say a motorway the temp drops to 0 as if starting from cold, the fan kicks in for the rest of the journey and the Check Engine light comes on. Not sure if this is related to that but my petrol also seems to have a bit of a fit jumping down on one journey that's about 30-40 miles from full to 3/4 but then when i come to the car the next day its back up at full. Even does this sometimes on small 5 minute trips.

Any advice would be greatful, Thanks

i would be checking all earth leads and possibly confirming the plug on the speedo head was in securely
other than that its a bit of a mystery,if it doesnt have abs then i would also check security of wiring to the speed sensor on the top of the back of the gearbox
fan cutting in is a weird one maybe getting some cheap cables off ebay and downloading the free fiatecuscan programme might help fathom this

the EML - Temperature Dropping and the Fan kicking in
Sounds like a Failing temperature Sensor, the car goes into "panic" mode, and Switchs the fan on, to prevent the car overheating
they also tend to Overfuel - and be very sluggish
FES as mentioned above - will tell you if it is the Temperature sensor or not
But its cheap - and its best time to have the cars cooling system flushed and refilled with a good Concentration of Water to anti-freeze ready for the hard winter thats coming up

But the Gauge dropping and coming for fuel is odd
a poor connection?
A leaking float?
