I've had a multijet 1.3 diesel for four years - 04 reg. Have to say it's been a dream to run, no problems apart from wipers. Lately, and only intermittently. it's been losing power when I change up gears. Last night I couldn't get it past 78mph, but ok this morning. The battery needs changing, but I'm reluctant to stick it in front of a mechanic unless I can reproduce the fault consistently.
No engine management lights appear. May be just a dodgy diesel fill up as I'm still on the same tank of fuel. It's liveable with, but annoying.
Any thoughts please?

Thanks. My first though was the turbo fault, though I have no clue how technically turbos work. I did notice I couldn't get the revs past the 3000 mark last night. I'm more than willing to pay my local mechanic for a fix, but wanted to point hin in the right direction.
I had though a turbo would either pack up or work, not give occasional problems, so thanks again.

Turbo's work Hot

Hot air cools = Moisture

Freezing Temps outside + Moisture = Ice

Ice + Flap = Stuck

Not been able to get past 3k rpm could forwell be turbo

Idearly - you could do with getting a Diag tool on to read Boost pressure
it'll soon tell if the turbo is working as it should

I do recall the diesels having turbo troubles
