Hi as the title says i put Vpower fuel in after i put my 4-2-1 manifold on it only has 1 lamba sensor n i though that was the reason for the light, looked in the b fiat book and it says that its poor injecotrs or not working injectors that makes the light come on so it wont be my lamabsensor cause thats emintions my mom said it happend to the L200 abit of gunk went into the injector but evenutally burned off and the light went out, could any one tell me if this is a simple wait n it will go or a serious problem? oh also blowin out afiar bit of smoke (think thats the vpower doing its magic) just need some reasurance, oh and the light wasnt on before i put the vpower fuel in....
 
Smoke = Not good......

Get the Fault Code Read - it'll tell you what sensor is picking up a fault

What Ron is Vpowerfuel?

I'd be hesisitant to drive it to be honest

its not bad bad smoke but its smoking, vpower fuel is shells vershion of the bp ultimate fuel (i think its called) i heard people use it instead of redex to clear there injectors and i dont have the cable to do a fault code read wouldent know where to start with it either... tempted tot ake to fiat dealership but im trying to save money, just to rule out its defo not the lamba sensor not being connected? as i tryed with it and with out it n light stayed on in the fiat book it says its use able just dont rev it asmuch and too keep them as short distance each time i use the car
 
if the lamba has died - i wouldnt drive the car
As the incorrect fueling will foul up the Cat - and then the Cat will die meaning a New cat and Sensor and fitting = More money

Any Auto-Electrician can Read fault codes - will be cheaper then Fiat stealers too

... i dont have a cat and only one sensor is plugged in but would the light of come on striaght away??? :S its only once i put the fuel in that it came on :confused:
 
okay - did your Cat have 2 sensors Before?

And ah yes 421 - So yea - just becareful of a flaming exhaust if its spitting fuel out as well

yeh my exhaust hangs low and it has spat afew flames (heard them poppin out) before the engine managment light but then put this fuel in and it came on i had 2 sensors on the old one, one before the cat and one after it, the one after it is the one thats not plugged in as it dont fit there the bloke who i brought it off put the thing in the wrong hole i will give him a ring and see if he can move it for me if not will it matter? :S i was told at the garage it wont matter just it will burn a little richer with lower mpg?

But if you had a Car that only had 1 Sensor but a double sensor Cat (ie A newer onto an older) Then a sensor That wasn't plugged in aint needed

it had two sensors but i unplugged one? :S as it dont fit into the 4-2-1? but it come one once i put fuel it thats the bit i dont understand

jesus...guys come on its obvious:)

he had a standard manifold with cat converter...it had a pre and post cat lamba sensors...the john ashleys 4-2-1 manifolds come with 1 sensor hole and if you ask he will weld another on...the OP said that he has welded the lamba boss on the wrong side of the manifold down pipe (post cat) so the lamba sensor wont reach.

The light is ONLY!! on because you dont have your 2nd sensor in...you need it plugged into the wiring loom and screwed into the manifold mate without it being in the manifold it reads no emmisions just from atmosphere...if its not connected at all it acts as a failed sensor hence the light

just take it back to john and get him to weld a new lamba boss onto the otherside...and BTW you will have more smoke and poping noise mate it doesnt have a cat...when i put mine on emissions machine at work was buring 20times the amount of fuel needed lol(y) there is no emissions control because no cat you are now running a rich mixture like me:)

EDIT: BTW if youve left the second lamba hole (wrong side one) with nothing in it so its just a hole you will get poor performance...loads of engine bay heat and smoke and poping from there mate need to block it with one of them screw on thing lol can be getting flames spitting outta it mate

it is indeed, his all the way in wasall i got no way of gettin back if i drop my car off there it only took him 10 mins or so to weld a hole in it last time ill give him a ring n see wht he can do
 
mate are you sure that the head bolts are fully tight?? i left one on the left side a slight bit loose and could hear a tapping/poping noise all time especailly high revs i then nipped all the nuts again and one was easier to turn after tightening it was fine(y)
 
If the lambda is missing completely, the ECU will be on a standard map thats a wee bit richer to stop pistons overheating, but should be no where near pumping neat fuel down exhaust.

when u say pumping neat fuel down the exhaust the fuel isnt dripping out and i dont get constant flames it depends on what revs im doin and how i use the gears.. EG: doin 40-50 in 3rd pop it into 2nd let it rev down rather then brakeing flames will come out if i brake and then put into 2nd it wont if i rev it hard then changeing up a flame will come out too but the car is driving alright i think its just cause i only got one lamba sensor in dont seem to much of a biggy :confused: i can just melt arse holes bumpers that get up close to me untill i get my lamba sensor sorted
