does the mk2b use a different Warning light system?

But EML - Get the fault codes read, it'll tell you where the fault is :)
you had any spluttering/Mis-fires?

last service done?

But been Automatic - i'd be inclined to say that the "triangle symbol" means Gearbox?

Could be on for a number of reasons?

cheers for the quick answer,going to ring fiat later,how much do you think code reading will cost and can it be done diy,i can find a laptop to use what else do i need ?

no spluttering or misfires,but sounds like a bag of spanners and wont rev higher than 2000 revs :(
 
Take off the oil filler cap and look at cam shaft.
Crank engine.
If cam not moving the cam belt has failed.

Even if it is moving take off the cam belt cover and check the belt for missing teeth.

Noisy auto box usually needs specialist attention.
