Hi there i have a punto mk2 Sporting 1.2 16v. I was wondering what oil it takes. As when i went to Halfords they said 10w 40 Part Synthetic, but then i went to Pentland Components they said 10w 40 Fully Synthetic? Which is better fully synthetic or part. Ive got fully in the now but the tapets seam very noisey. In asda they have Castrol GTX 10w 40 Part synthetic for £10!!! 5L. Wanting to know what oil my punto takes and ways to quiet the tapets.

Ive got 10w40 semi-synthetic in my sporting and my tappets are still very noisy even though apparently ive got a "lazy tappet"

A lazy tappet is caused by a lazy mechanic who can't be arsed finding out what the real problem is.

Your handbook will give the correct spec of oil

5-40 or 10-40 will be ok. Or use cheap oil and some flushing solution such as STP for a few hundred miles then change that out for proper part synthetic.

So im bnest running on part synthetic? Asda have Castrol GTX 10-40 Part for £10 worth buying it? its the big container 5L i think

they are 4l so you will need two

im thinking about it myself,i really dont know but 20 quid to change your oil (with quite good oil )and have spare seems ok to me
