Mk2 2001. Symptom - no start, battery flat. Fix (by owner) - new battery. Result - no better, soon went flat again! Came to me. I checked battery voltage with engine running (14V) so I think alternator is OK. Alternator belt is OK. Looked around and found a loose wire. Determined that this had broken off a bonnet switch (corrosion) then noticed an alarm horn.

This aftermarket alarm must have been fitted by a previous owner. It also provides remote central locking. As far as I can tell by looking at the siren (it says Clifford), the remote fob (it also says Clifford and has three buttons), the blue bezel-LED and a small two-push button thing, I think it is a Clifford Arrow 5.

It is powered via a couple of added in-line fuses (5A and 15A) close to the battery.

Does anyone have experience of this system on a Punto? I need to know whether it has been installed correctly and whether it is draining the battery.

i have a clifford on my punto, and it has never drained my battery

I figured it ought to be OK if correctly wired. Noticed that it wasn't arming though. The blue LED just came on constantly. As present I have dissed the feed from the battery to see whether the draining problem goes away.
Have sourced Arrow 5 user guide and installation guide from net so will have a read.

Didn't think to check for an aftermarket ICE; will look next time (car not mine, have to ask owner to bring it round). What's the crack with reverse polarity? Presume aside from draining battery, it wouldn't be working? The owner has had the car for abt a year and says the battery problem is recent. Was OK while in daily use but went flat when unused for a few days. No mention of ICE issues.
