Hi, problem with car juddering when engine warms up. When the engine is cold driving is really smooth and there are no problems as soon as the engine warms up the car starts to judder when setting off in first gear also sometimes it will judder in all gears, when it gets to about 2.5k revs it will judder going through to around 4k revs and suddenly get a bit of acceleration back. I fixed a blowing manifold thinking this will solve it, im not sure if its a coincidence but it did feel alot better after that. Help please:bang:

Lambda sensor is most likely shot. Make sure it's plugged in properly and connections are secure if you've been working on the manifold.

It's possible it's been snagged and the wiring has broken

Where abouts are these connections as i have exactly the same trouble mine occurs mainly setting off in first gear

Ive been contemplating getting a new clutch but it only does it when it gets hot so .. this maybe be a simple thing to check :)

ok ill have a look now :)

i really want to fix this as its just annoying when you want to set off

Ive had a look and i dont have any lamba sensors where you said

So i looked under the bonnet for one and found it with the wire going to the sensor i checked the plug was firmly connected and it was.

I was wondering if it could be corroded but i has rubber seals around the connections so im not sure really :p

Sensor could have failed or there should be a connector you can unplug shortly up the wire. Check that's clean and secure

ill try that tomorrow now its a bit dark now :p

hmm if it has failed wouldn't a light come on the dash?

is there anyway i can test if its working?

Hi mate could be the temprature sender on the engine would try that first. Or posibly a blown head gasket. Has the coolant level dropped, is there oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil, is the EML light on.
Regards Ashley.

Hi thanks for the reply, I changed it when I fixed the head gasket just under 2 years ago could it have degraded over a couple of years. Its all secured properly I removed it when I sorted the manifold out. Would cleaning it make a difference? maybe I could try that. If not I don't mind getting a new one.

Hi, thanks for the advice. How would I go about checking this. I don't think the head gasket is going there's no oil anywhere it shouldn't be, no white smoke coming out of exhaust. I did fix the head gasket a couple years ago so it should be ok.

Coolant is best to check for headgasket failing.

If you disturbed the lambda during the job it's most likely that. Take it out, give it a clean (not sure the right way to clean them though) and make sure all connections are nice and tight again. May just be a loose connection.

Any warning lights at all?

Cheers, I'll give it a good clean tomorrow with something :S, and no I don't have any warning lights.
Could this be a clutch problem by any chance. I'm guessing not as it only really happens when its hot.

no I don't have any warning lights.

Just to throw this out there, I've had a pre-cat lamda sensor failure which didn't bring on any lights, but did register a fault code when scanned with an OBD diagnostic. Don't know why it didn't trip the light, but the light definately worked because a few days later it came on for a TB issue.

Might be worth getting a the codes read, you can get USB OBD scanners off ebay for £30 - £50.

hmmm, that sounds interesting, so this will pick up on any problems that the car might be having? Do you know if these work on mk1 1.2 8v engine?

Yes they do or if you have an android phone you can buy a bluetooth dongle for £15 that plugs in and download a free app to read the codes

Cheers, I have an android phone so I go for a bluetooth adapter, One more question, do you know if the 75sx engine from 1997 has a 16 pin connection?
