Could be something simple with the air intake? Then again it's more likely to affect it when cold and 1st started, but you never know.
Saying that it wouldn't cause a miss-fire but it could cause a very bad shuddering and cutting out!

Here's a link to a pic I took tonight of a Punto Mk1 TB -- R reg -- that is in for some work. May help a little in conjunction with the diagram.

stupid question, are the spark plug gaps alright as i completely forgot to check them after doing the belt on my mk1 punto 16v and the gaps had closed up. This will cause a mis-fire symptom.

Just read through this. What a PIA you are having.

One thing I've not spotted is my "favourite" - the cam belt. It might not be broken, but does it have all of its teeth?

This has been changed, along with a new tensioner.

The tensioner seized up, causing the belt to warm up, get very thin and jump a few teeth, then the engine wouldn't start (This was the engine that was the doner)

Replaced that and now fixed.

just to let you all know. The problem seems TO BE FIXED.

I'll write up my story under a new thread tomorrow. The what if's and buts about problem starting.

Thanks All!

I also now have the same problem on a fiat palio 1.6 only firing 1 & 4th cylinder ecu been checked no code picked up
