maybe insurance write off, sorted it out and stuck some dodgy plates on it, as it nearly happened to me before i ran a check on it

Thanks for the replies :)

I did a HPI on the car before I purchased it and all was clear.

The reason I think it's a 16V is because it's a Punto Sporting ... and they are 16V ... it has the usual spec, 6 gears, even says it on the air filter housing :p

Anywhere else I can check this? as I haven't had the log book back yet as I only bought the car Monday and she is sending it off.

It's a 2001 Mk2 ... but it's a Sporting, not an Active Sport :) ... I hope :D

Thanks again for the quick replies :)

I have just checked the VIN plate under the bonnet and in the drivers floor against a document that came with the car (all in Italian mind) :p think it's the one you get when the car is brand new? and they match up fine.

Yes it does say 16V on the air filter box, and it's square, but sure the hose comes out the left when looking at it from the front of the car

Could it just be Europarts have it wrong? maybe there's somewhere else I can check? everywhere I've looked just says 1.2 ... no mention of the valves :(

i presume you have it insured. look on the documents it should have it on there.

or get a quote from one of them sites confused etc... when you enter the vehicle it should also come up there

Tbh it probably just defaults to it as 8v as it's a smaller number than 16v, any search by reg number will only reveal the engine capacity afaik so it will just take the first result in the database which will be 8v. If you are certain it's 16v just search for the relevant parts on ECP, otherwise post pics of the engine bay for us to clarify (y)

I do have it insured yes ... although only over the phone and am still waiting for the paperwork to come through.

I've done the Confused.com quote thing, it just comes up as a 1.2 Punto ... no mention of valves ... tried other insurers too :bang:
