Good news ... it passed MOT
Bad news ... they lost the blue key

that leaves me with only one red key.

I've heard its not good to drive on red key all the time , can I get a blue key cut from a red key ?

do you think I should make the garage pay for it ?

btw the car is still at the garage cos I told him that was the only key I had just so he would carry on looking

thanks, so I take the red key to the dealer and they will cut and program a new blue one.

any idea of cost so I can let the MOT garage know ?

not sure if its the same price as what i got quoted but it was about 75 for the key and 70 to program it to the car... but my punto doesnt come with a red key so it should be cheaper... u dont seem to be mad about it... i would go off my head lol tell them your not happy about it and that u want a free MOT next time its due ... you wanna try get something out of them because you cant use it cos of the blue key

Hi, on code 1 systems, you actually need a minimum of two slave (blue) keys and a master (red) key to programme in, you therefore will need the garage to supply two blue slave keys. DO NOT under any circumstances allow them to clone the red key as this is as bad as using it all the time. If they do not agree to this then contact VOSA, the address is on the notice board in the reception, (VOSA is the agency that enforces MOT tests and handles complaints).

Well i've decided to leave the car with them until they sort it . I'm going to ask for a loan car , if none availiable I'll hire one and charge them for it.

...forget the free MOT next time idea , the car wont be going back there.

I wouldnt trust them to sort it properly. The garage will go down the cheapest easiest route, ie cloning the red key at timpsons. If they clone the red key it is as bad as using the red key all the time.

Does it cause damage always using the red key
