Possible JTD Remap DMF Judder Solution

Hey there, so I got my punto remapped (yay big win, its a brand new car)

Got 108 bhp / 241Nm @ 2050 rpm

Now as many of you will know, you will get a judder coming from the Clutch/Dual Mass flywheel.

I spoke with the mecanic and it's a well known problem with the vw touran, the DMF just can't handle the power and will get offbalance creating a judder. If I'm understanding this right.

Now the fix should be, to weld up the flywheel and get the whole thing balanced. Gearbox, Clutch, and flywheel.

Have anyone tried this? Heard about it?

Ofcourse there is a DMF for a reason, something with easier gear shift and more dampning on power spikes. But I'm willing to let that go, if I can fix the DMF judder, and then take the remap all the way to gearbox failing point @ 320Nm (so i've heard)

Where did you get your remap from? I suppose you get it low because of the milage?

How is the clutch coping with the power? How old is it?

Didnt have cash aswell , credit card helped me ..
The thing is , to fit the flywheel the gearbox has to come out so you will pay a lot of labour , unless you do it yourself.

My problem exactly, both my brother and dad are mechanics. And they did the clutch change. Now, suddenly, they dont want anything to do with it, ever again >_>.-.....

Re: Possible JTD Remap DMF Judder Solution

A DMF is used to control resonance more than anything else as well as spikes. It is usually made with a rubber section in the middle of the two differeing masses. Welding it up probably isn't an option. No one I know has ever done it in anything VAG I have seen (And I am talking of PDs with 250bhp and 450nm+). They all fit kevlar clutches with SMF's and adjust the idle speed up to about 1050 rpm so it doesn't rattle the car to bits.

You either map round this by putting peak further up the RPM range if possible or you don't boot it low down. I can't see the rest of the components getting to a power level where the DMF would do this on the Fiat although I appreciate you learn something everyday, however once it starts it will just get worse until failure (I have had a few fail.....)

Re: Possible JTD Remap DMF Judder Solution

I see, good info, so the only other option is to get a better dmf.
http://bilmodel.dk/Biler/Fiat/Stilo_1%2C9_JTD_Dynamic_140HK_3d_7938

I know this page probably wont make much sense to you. But I'm guessing that this Stilo model, and 04', prolly 16v, but still the same 1910cc JTD, developing 140bhp, might have the dmf we need also, the clutch, if you want it uprated.
