Hi guys and ladies i realy need some help im stumped i know alittle about cars but this is over my head

i have a punto 1.2 8v punto 60 and about a week ago i noticed a small knocking noise i thought it was a cv joint but didnt get time to do it but its been getting louder and louder and imm aboit confused because its coming from bottom of engine / gearbox area but only when im in gear (any gear) if i put foot on clutch and cost the noise goes but the secound i lift the clutvh again it starts can anyone help me on what it could be cos im Confused and my dads told me to just drive it but dont fancy it falling to pieces on me and destroying my bopdy kit etc

the knocking noise like u hear on a old festa (tappets) but slowed down and louder.

o and they is shaking in the steering wheele

its driving me nuts cos i like my car running 100% please please help

I,d have a look at the rear gearbox mounting --when the rubber which is moulded into the mount starts to go it can produce this type of noise

nice 1 i try jackin it up tomorrow and having a look i also noticed if i pull the clutch up to the bite point quickly it makes the knock but this courses the car to jult alittle so maybe that mount which i will cheak asap tomorrow

also had the mot like 1 week ago and nothing come up on it

if you have someone handy ,make sure the handbrake is on and then fire up the engine , make sure its someone who knows what they are doing put into first gear and slowly lift the clutch
stand at side of car and look at the rear mounting bracket-- if the rubber is gone you will see the bracket come back up against the bulkhead and it will make a knocking sound in time with engine --no movement in bracket and you have to look else where

ummm seems you where right should have noticed that myself but didnt and umm yes its definitly gone totaly gone lol ty for your help i will get that fixed asap ty u so much i was going to buy some drive shafts other day and there not cheap but will sort this rubber first and pray there no more damage

ok i replaces the mount but umm its not stopped the knocking but i have noticed 1 thing there seems to have been a small oil leak from the gear bosx area is it posiable that the seal is going and that the gear box oil is low corsing this noise ??

ok ist not gearbox oil checked that all fine seems it could be the c.v joints not 100% tho cos it stop once i put foot on cluctch
