Iv read through some past threads and i gather the side badges on a mk1 5dr punto dont have any holes behind (am i right?) so iv decided to remove mine!

do you literally just pull them off and use a bit of t-cut to finish it off?
whats the best way of getting them off?

They have no holes...the glue behind them is serious stuff though.
You can remove this by picking at it gently for the next year, VERY careful application of brake fluid or by using a rubber block that attaches to a power-drill.
You could also use heat...but I wouldn't recommend it due t othe damage it does t othe paintwork.

the glue behind mine wasnt serious stuff, it ws just that sticky foam stuff :)
if youre lucky, then all they need is a good douse with tar and bug remover, and keep rubbing till it all comes off

mine were easy enough to get off, just when I'd removed all the black foam stuff it left minty fresh paint with the shape of the number underneath!

some dirt and grit from the road rubbed on it for 20-30seconds and it blended in nicely wiht the rest of my paint:eek:

The 'wouldn't recommend it' was to using heat...I CERTAINLY wouldn't pour boiling water over it as you are ASKING for your paint to bubble.
Having done this on my last 4 cars I personally never had a good time with tar and bug remover...my advice would be to get a pinstripe removal tool.....it's a rubber block that attaches to a powerdrill and makes VERY short work of the sticky stuff. It might cost a few quid from a paint suppliers but IMO it is well worth the outlay to get the job done quickly and easily with little mess and little room for error...plus you can hire the block out to ur mates ;)

thanks a lot guys
ill think ill have a crack at it tomorrow since im on study leave (im sure this is the best way to spend my time)
i reckon ill give all your ways ago and see which does best

done it!
only took bout 10 mins
used a bit of boiling water and i found this thing to leaver bike tyres off so i used that to get it off and scrape the foamy glue off
finished it off with a bit off t-cut and it looks perfect (y) !

haha sounds fun
i should probably start getting some work done too since i cant do anymore on my punto at the moment
