I've seen a similar thread on this, but there are some differences...
Basically, my mk2 Punto JTD has become quite sluggish. It used to be that some days it was ok, then others not so much, but now it is every day It almost appears that the turbo is not kicking in until really high revs. For instance, acceleration in 3rd is slow, but if I keep it in 3rd and keep my foot down it eventually rockets forward!. Same in 5th gear at say 70mph..on motorway I pull out to overtake...very sluggish , no acceleration, drop down to 4th, same (but obviously higher revs), then all of a sudden is rockets forward. This pattern is repeated in most gears. The turbo itself seems fine, just that it doesn't kick in until really high revs. Previously, it was very nippy in all gears.
Anyone know what might be wrong? Starting is fine. I saw on the other similar thread talk about disconnecting the MAF (what is this and how do you do this) and also adding injectors cleaner. I might try this if this is the problem.
Car journeys are regular motorway trips.
