Now for the 1.4 question, I thought we had answered all your questions and were waiting for the available date to come and do it for you?? My apologies if you were waiting an answer on something, I have had a trawl back through the emails and can't find anything unanswered?!?

My bad Nigel (are you Nigel?) I think I must of confused myself in the process, as Ive been quite busy lately with ongoing projects at work, I must of forgot who said what!

Regardless, I'll send you an email ASAP to arrange a day to come and do it, its worth a try as you said! (y)

2 from me are un answered :(
? Sorry Dave, we havent had an email from you since 07/03 (BMC cleaning kit - which you bought) and 28/06 which was a link to a pic of your CDA. Its a policy of ours to answer (even if we cannot help the person) and keep a history of every email. We get an average of around 35 enquiries per day so there is a chance one got missed though and if so please accept our apologies. This is one of the reasons why we do not use forum PM's, as there are too many forums to trawl round and the history gets lost.

If you have something outstanding, give us a call, you have our number and we are always willing to give time up for a chat when we can and if we are underneath something and can't we will always ring back as you know!

You mention lead...do you mean the 16pin diag lead? If so then yes it is different, youhave to use the dedicated grande punto lead.
No, its a different process. On the diagnostics side I beleive we can do these with the same lead as we do the JTDm's and Multijets.

hi all, would like to clear a few things up.

We can remap the grande punto 1.9, by opening the ECU up and doing it directly onto the ECU with a bit of desoldering too, which a number of other companies are also offering.

However we have found that the majority of owners do not want us to take the ECU out and apart to do this so we have been working with the guys in Italy to do this part diagnsotically and we thought we had cracked it, but alas it wasn't to be with all of them as we found out on this vehicle and one other this week, and as mentioned the Italians are on holiday so we couldnt get the support we required. Beleive me, we were as frustrated as the owners.

We initially thought the wiring had changed and without having two cars to compare side by side and a fading memory we couldnt be 100% certain, HOWEVER, we may have had an issue with the lead we were using, as we tried to do a car later yesterday that we do loads of and had a similar problem, so it may not have been the ECU or the procedure - just the bloody lead!

My thanks to Newdog22 for allowing us the time on his vehicle

I am wondering if Fiat changed the wiring loom when they updated to blue & me.
My GP 1.9 is the earliest model pre B & M - newdog22 what type is yours - if it is different maybe we could sort out a meet up with angeltuning as we are in the same area - Also would a picture of engine bay be of any help to you guys at angel - let me know if there is anything i can look for for you on the car.

Through the diagnostic socket it takes several hours to read and write.

Alternatively the EDC16 ECU can be opened and read and written to with and without soldering, which in both instances is much quicker.

I'm seriously considering a Sporting 1.9 JTD alongside some more expensive options such as a Golf GT TDi 140 - it seems such good value.

I've taken some time out from fast cars in 2006. My last being a sensible, but heavily tuned Coupe 20V Turbo, which sadly went after I landed a job in a city centre and we didn't need two cars. But I'm now looking to get a new TD hatch in about 6-8 weeks. :)

This will be a "compromise" of a warm hatch for my other half and I, since she's never liked driving my hot hatches / Fiat Coupes.

Out of curiousity, what sort of gains does this sort of chip give and what's the cost? I'm more interested in a chunky power band and general driveability than headline power / torque bragging figures.
