Hi guys,
Had my car mapped a month ago by a mobile service. The claimed gains were 133->165bhp and 150->180ftlbs torque. However after putting it on a rolling road I now know it's producing 150bhp and 194ftlbs torque. Happy with the torque but disappointed with the bhp, any suggestions on what I should do? Accept what it has and be happy or complain to the company?

Hi mate,

I have fitted a TMC tuning box which is meant to be fitted to an Abarth Punto Evo but works great on setting 5 (out of 9). I own the same 135bhp model as you do and I took mine on the rolling road.

I was seeing around 157bhp and 229ftlbs (311NM).

I'd be reasonably happy with the results considering it it was a mobile service! As long as it doesn't throw any errors or make your car limp like my TMC box does then all is good! We should meet for a race to see which is faster ;)

It definitely feels better, was just a bit disappointed with half the improvement they claimed. Credit to them though when I spoke to them yesterday they offered me to come down and they would tinker with it until I was happy (free of charge) or remove it completely for a refund. Think I'll just stick with it though, don't fancy the 650 mile round trip to their HO haha

I've had my 120Tjet remapped recently, I know its not the same engine, but the starting points are very similar (225 Nm and 132 hp against the multiair 212 Nm and 135 hp). Mine ended up at 310Nm & 170Hp and whilst it sounds a big difference I was a bit underwhelmed. I went back to the tuner and what is happening is that the power is produced at a different point in the rev range (4200rpm against 5200rpm previously) so it doesn't need to be revved as much. The increase in torque is at the same point so it makes the engine feel a little more 'peaky'. Saying that it still produces over 155bhp at 5000rpm. Apparently it is a common problem with 1.4 & 1.6 engines with small turbos of all makes.
