I'm curious as to if this is normal? Considering I thought that about 80% of braking is done at the front and only about 20% At the back? I do believe I may have heard a catching sound from the wheels recently... Maybe the back ones are catching.

discs or Drums on rear..??,

only discs tend to colour the wheels,
drum dust is "self-contained", ;)

The problem was found. Turned out the brake pads at the back have hardened up and that's causing the noise, however I've been told they're still fine to use with plenty of ware just they'll make the noise that they are. I'll probably come to change them give August of so when the wear is down a bit more and funds on a bit more on the up!

My rear pads/ discs make a moaning noise when reversing, I've been told its nothing to worry about and quite common on all sorts of cars. It's just because they don't do much of the braking and glaze over/ harden up apparantly.
