I have a 60 plate Punto Evo which I just bought.
I love it but I don't like the yellow headlights, sidelights and specifically DRL.
Is it possible to upgrade the bulbs with Xenon-like bulbs for the headlamps and LED's for the DRL? How much would this cost?
Thanks

Hello,

If you do this, you will have an "Exterior Light Failure" on dashboard.
This is because LEDs consume less power than traditional bulb. Body computer monitor the current consumed, if it is too low the warning symbol lights.

I have seen special LEDs bulbs advertised as "no warning light", but I dont know if it works.

(Not tried on Punto 2012 but it was the case on my old Punto Mk2)

I think this post disproves the former; but proves the latter...! Sorry... ;)

I disagree. Looks great in the shade, and makes a great possition lamp for night use, but as a DRL, there is next to no bounce back from the backing reflector in the unit fitted with LED.

Only way with DRLs ideally is a Cree chip, standard LEDs won't have as good an effect. Hence why they're not really used in any standard DRLs.

Yes, but you have to try to be sure.

CanBus LED. lol. What the marketing can invent....

ErrorFree LED - CanBus LED and other are all the same : LED with integrated resistor (or other chip) for consume more current, to approach a traditional bulb current consumption.

But, it is hard to drawn as much as current without having overheating problem. LED are efficient (and draw less current) but they support less heat than bulb. So adding a resistor to draw more current will generate the same amount of heat; the problem is there.

Even HID Direct say :
That said, unfortunately not all cars are totally immune to errors even when canbus LEDS are fitted, this is because for safety reasons the canbus LEDs can only have a certain amount of resistance and some cars require more

But not tried on my Punto. On the Panda this is nice because we don't see the bulbs, on the Punto we see it... it looks less nice I think...
